Water Tower

West Virginia

This is the historic wood water tower on Rt. 52. It supplied the water to the town below.

Built on a spring, it collects water like a springhouse. It only leaks a little to this day.

I made that up. But bet I'm close. It had water in it.

I wish I could've have captured it better. I never noticed it before.

This is a great capture Karen! It's obviously old..... I like the shingles but what I like most is seeing a glimse of the town below. The church helps to make it stand out! Nice!

Nice textures. This is such a neat water tower. I don't think I've ever actually seen one in real life (tho I remember one from "Petticoat Junction" on TV LOL) Perhaps the weather was a factor for not building them up here in the Great White North ...

Very nice Karen... the church gives this image depth and I like the texture of the weathered boards.

I like the composition - the angle lets you see the town below.

Lovely angle - looks like you climbed to take it from this angle (don't disillusion me by telling me it's on a hill..). I saw a wonderful water tower a few days ago, couldn't get off the road or find a way to photograph it, so plan on going back soon.

So blue and grey; so nostalgic.

I like the capture too. It brings back part of my childhood. I think if I was about 12 years old, I could be getting into some trouble at this location really quick. :-)

I like it looming in the foreground, as if it were watching over and caring for the town below. Good shot!

I like the composition.

Very beautiful scene, Karen. I love the texture of the watertower, the end-of-fall colors and the town with the white church far below.
