It's almost an autumn shot rather than late autumn. What I like about the composition is that the fence line seems to lead the eye off to the right of the picture. It doesn't quite extend to the corner where it meets its counterpart running perpendicular to it, but it's close enough to keep the eye scooting up in that direction and on to the stand of trees on the far hill.

Excellent capture of this wonderful scene, Karen! That tree has personality and the fence has character. \/

there seems an air of expectancy here, as if the table is set and the guests will soon arrive..

At least there's no snow! Here it is still thigh deep. I love this image, it appears that all is tranquil in this waiting mode. V

Wonderful tones and such nice soft lighting. Reminds me of an Andrew Wyeth painting. "V"

You've still got the colours of winter in this lovely, but barren, scene. V
Neil Marcus09-Mar-2014 22:00
The warm tones of Winter and bare branches have an appeal as shown in this very nice image.

Fine composition with the fence, gate and stark tree, a real pleasure to view despite the lack of foliage. And I do see a landscape not covered with snow!
Helen Betts09-Mar-2014 21:19
Well, it's a great composition and that tree is impressive despite the lack of leaves, but in terms of spring, it looks like a non-starter. V.

Exactly what this, as I think of it, non-season feels like. V
