The change of seasons is Inevitably full of conflict. Flowers are fragile and snow is hard and cold in spring. Still, my money's on the flowers.

The difference a week makes. I'm not sure that I read this as surrender, though, more like just chilling out, albeit literally. There are still strong colours in the leaves and the petals (set off to good effect against the crystalline whiteness)... our little floral friend may be well placed to make a comeback when the snows melt.
