Calling Out

West Virginia

"To the empty night
Watching as the snowflakes
Come dancing against the light
Dancing up against the window
Just like they're peeking
Through the glass
They hover for a moment
Then they fall on past."
James McMurty

I love the lines of this composition and the subtle tones. We were supposed to get a snowstorm yesterday, but it bypassed us. V

I like this view over the roof...still much of the fluffy white stuff I see.
Brenda12-Feb-2012 17:25
Beautiful. I can feel the snowflakes swirling around. V

We're having the same weather up here in Rochester, NY.

Beautiful capture of this wild snow fall. V
John King12-Feb-2012 12:32
You really captured a windy snow storm here with the delicate snowflake patterns and the strong graphic lines of the roof tops. V.

Definitely a Japanese feel to this scene. I love the contrasts between the sturdy building, the wispy branches and the snow flurries.

Magnificient words with melancholy all the way through your meaningful image! V.

I like the way the white surfaces bisect the image into man made and natural entities. Great shot for this low light situation. V

An excellent story telling exercise repeated many times during this most unpredictable season. Well presented at 1/15 sec, Karen. ~V

There's a melancholy to this shot, perhaps I'm thinking that though because of the words accompanying it. It is a very, very fine shot, a prelude to a story. V+

You have a great eye for composition and those essential elements to create a strong image and to tell a story. V

Many say, "No one can hear snow fall", but I recall hearing snow mixed with sleet skitter on the windows.
This image and quote brought those memories vividly to my mind.

Yep, here comes winter just when spring was poking its nose in.
Alan K11-Feb-2012 22:13
It's February already, you should be starting to warm up by now.
I like the minimal approach in this one; there's just enough building, just enough roof, just enough tree to tell the story.
