The King

West Virginia

Mamiya RB67 with Polaback. Fujifilm FP100B.

Submitted for the challenge entry, "Take a hip shot candid today."

This is not a hip shot candid. I defy anyone, man or woman, to shoot from the hip with an RB67. However, I did use the strategy to capture Hissy Kitty who is VERY difficult to photograph because he hates cameras.

I focused on his head (no AF), lowered the camera to my waist to brace it and then held a treat out of reach to make him stay there until I snapped the shot. He was so intent on my hand, he forgot to get up and jump down just as I pushed the shutter button. :)

Other worlds can be seen here.

Mamiya RB67 ,Mamiya Sekor 50mm f4.5

I like that he is focusing on a treat! My cat often closes one eye when she sees my camera :)

The plan worked, 99. Hissy kitty had no idea what hit him.

Boy, you had to be both dexterous and quick to get this! But it worked beautifully. He is definitely a regal cat. V

Well, that's a candid to catch him unawares like that. He's a handsome fellow and you've got good detail in his fur.
