Apple Picker

West Virginia

I wonder how old this design is. This is a rubber covered wire basket on a long pole used for reaching up into fruit trees to get the fruit. I've left it in my yard for anyone who wants to come and get apples. I can't eat, cook, can or make enough apple butter to use them all.

For the September challenge - Transitions. Other transitions can be seen here.

What a kind person to share. Better then climbing and better than a ladder.
I wish I had that contraption when I was leaping to get some green gage plums.

Beautiful light and colors Karen!! It's a pity I am so far away, those apples must be delicious!!! V

Cool shot with this lighting and shadows, colors and textures. This reminds me of my youth. Because of food shortages during war time almost all the yards in our area had fruit trees and everyone had pickers like this, and everyone seemed to have more fruit than they could eat at harvest time. "V"

I just went to an orchard south of Ottawa and bought a bunch of apples for pies, crisps, and just plain eating. Love this time of year, and this image is just so terrific for all the apple imagery it conjures up. V

I love the soft dappled light in this. The apple picker looks like an old tried and true design. I'm sure your neighbours are happy to share in your good crop this year. V.
