Film

Film photos from various cameras.

I started out with film. There was no digital. I went digital with the first cameras made. Then I found my old Polaroid Color Pack II in a closet and discovered I could still get film for it. That started me shooting instant film.

Someone gave me a Mamiya RB67 medium format camera with several lenses and a Polaroid back. At first, I just shot instant film but once I had a handle on it, I went to 120 film.

Now, I had to relearn how to develop film which is much easier to do at home today thanks to changing bags and light tight tanks.

I kept adding cameras. I will be purchasing an Ikonta Rangefinder III for my latest. So many cameras, so little time. :)

And just in time for the Kodak bankruptcy and the end of Kodak film which is my go to film. Well, there's still Freestyle, Lomography and Ilford.

There is just something about film that is so beautiful in a way I can't get with digital. I only shoot black and white because truthfully, color film doesn't have any advantage over digital. I'm sure there are many people who would disagree with that but I stand by that opinion.

With black and white, the high dynamic range and the subtle tonal variations just can't be reproduced on present digital sensors. Someday they will be but I will still be shooting film because I love the smell of fixer in the morning. :)
