The Thaw Begins February 2009

A hike down Brushy Creek to the Bluestone River Falls. Takes me about four hours. It's Wild and Wonderful all the way. Winter is still holding on but the air is filled with sounds of tinkles as litte icicles fall and the thunder of huge ice boulders rolling down the hillsides.

The shapes the water forms as it melts in the day and refreezes at night are mysterious and unfathomable to me. Mother Nature's works of art are on display.

It's a far cry and a long way from the news that every day just gets worse and worse. It's a magical world that makes you want to pitch a tent and stay where nothing matters with the sound of the water rushing by and the warming sun on your face that makes everything else just so insignificant.
