The Mercer County Poor Farm

The Mercer County Farm was where folks who could not support themselves otherwise went to live. In return for working on the farm, they were given food, shelter, and support. In operation from ? to ?, many families lived there. At that time it was a thriving farm with vegetables, fruit and livestock. There was a large home where a manager and his/her family lived. It even boasted a small store.

Unfortunately, many of the structures are gone, replaced by a Wood Education Center and ball fields.
