This is the recommended method of holding a small child when descending the chute.
Tell them to keep their feet together and keep their one hand above their head, the other hand is to hold the child against the life jacket. The design of the chute assists in keeping the child against the life jacket.
The crew at the bottom of the chute MUST hold the chute bottom closed until the passenger arrives at the bottom. The crew at the bottom can then release the bottom of the chute and allow the passenge and child to exit.
If the chute bottom is not held closed there is the possibility of the passenger exiting the chute backwards, this may cause them to drop out of the chute and loose control of the child.
