Golf Course Restoration Project 2006-07
A 1924 "Donald Ross" Design - The Sedgefield project involved the complete restoration of one of Donald Ross' finest designs. The course had undergone an attempted redo approximately 18 years ago and many problems remained. The greens were completed reconstructed and expanded to reinstate them to the original size, shape and orientation. The course bunkering was restored to reflect the design intent by Mr. Ross using field sketches, aerial photographs and many ground level photos from the 40's and 50's. Sedgefield hosted the Greater Greensboro Open from 1938 until 1976 and was played by all of the greats including Snead, Hogan, Nelson, Player, Palmer, Sarazan to name a few. There is tremendous history at Sedgefield and with the fully restored course back in play this fall you should expect to hear more about this course on a national level.
