Golf Course Restoration Project 2006-07 - The FCC project involves the complete restoration of a 1926 Donald Ross designed course that had undergone three complete redesigns over the course of its history. Extensive excavation of the greensites was required to remove the effects of the three previous projects, in some cases 4 to 5 feet of fill was removed. Aerial photos from the 30's showed well defined bunkers formed in a somewhat "pot" style throughout the course with steep grass faces and flat sand bottoms. The course was lengthened to bring the natural hills and ridges back into proper play and a new first hole was added to the course eliminating the old 90 degree dogleg left. Donald Ross is alive and well at Forsyth once again. The course will reopen for play August 30, 2007.
