In the Masai community, Masai women does almost everything. When a Masai girl is married, she has to build the matrimonial home (either by herself or with the help of other women) and do almost everything while the Masai men just tend to the cows and goats.
The one way I was told by my guide as to how the women get respect from the men is by making the door to their matrimonial home low. This will ensure that the men bow when they enter.....smart right?
