Sarubobo dolls are found all over Takayama. It is a faceless doll that is used in homes as good luck charms. Sarubobo in Takayama is literally translated as "monkey face", as this is the colour of the snow monkey face.
Be careful how this word is used. In Kyushu the word "bobo" means female genital or lovemaking....
