From Shirakawago, we took a bus back to Takayama (50 mins) and hopped onto an express train to Nagoya (2 hours). The change in landscape is very pronounced....wooden gussho style houses to skyscrappers. We arrived at Nagoya station around 7pm and checked into the Nagoya Associa Hotel which luckily for us was within the compound of the station.
Getting around Nagoya is pretty easy. The activities around Nagoya station gives an impression that the place is messy and busy but is not. We spent a little time digesting the layout and the different lines, just follow the map and getting to places of interest is simple.
Single trip fares are quite expensive, suggest anyone going to buy a 800 Yen whole day ticket (but not for buses).
Food wise .... if you see locals inside, it should not be wrong. That was basically our criteria for choosing restaurants.
