It's a toast rack - that's right, we brits like cold toast, together with warm beer.
As you say, I should have done the depth of field trick (I didn't realise you'd done it with the bacon) it's easy, and works really well. However, there's no more sunshine, and so it seems unlikely to get done!

This is interesting and I don't know what it is. It doesn't seem like something you would use for making toast, and if you put toast between the birds, it would just get cold. Or is cold toast another British peculiarity, like raw bacon? Whatever it is, I like the image, but I would like it better if you took 5 shots, each focused on one bird, and combined them in Photoshop, kind of like what I did with the bacon. - Warren
