"a tortured photographer" by Paul Rohal

Adelaide

Self Portrait. I always feel torn by my new found passion. I love it and at the same time feel tortured by it. I stole the idea from Piotr Kowalik who's work I'm very fond of. Anyway, I love photography and I think its a great form of therapy for me, albiet sometimes very trying.

Thanks Tim, the DOF is a combination of bracketed shots. You can thank Flick for the name being dropped. Regards Paul

I didn't see the earlier versions but this is so very strong that it really doesn't need a caption. I love the differential focus, which I suspect was done in PS as well as with normal DOF? Tim

Ahhh! I've uploaded 5 versions in the last half and hour and you guys are already commenting. Thanks Albert, Flick! I've taken your advice Flick and taken out the word!

Kind Regards

Paul

Hey there sexy beast! You look not unlike Kris Kristofferson here.
Excellent composition, especially the way the ear curves into the top of the frame.
I very much like the contrasting blue of the eye against the earthy tones of the rest of the shot.
The light in the eye itself works well with the dark brooding quality of the image.
Pesonally I think you could lose that distracting (therapy) lettering, though if you had to deviate from the normal pbase font, this one certainly expresses the concept.
But the point is you don't need to use a dynamic font to express the content of the picture. You have a powerful image that says it all, the lettering is redundant.
