For a moment I thought the lines on the face were your sensor, Flick, but of course its part of the sculpture. Anyway, I really like the shot, atmospheric, and well observed - Quentin

Hi Albert and Shelby, thanks for your comments.
This sort of effect is a lot harder to achieve with a cropped sensor camera, one reason I'm hanging onto my Kodak - full frame suits my style of photography.
Flick.

Soft, great color for the mood and sharp as a tack. I like this very much Flick! - Albert

Hi Flick, this is really nice. I like how you've handled the in focus and out of focus effects. Hope the camera is still working ok for you.

Thanks Nigel. When are we going to see something from you here? C'mon, don't be shy ;-)

Oh yes! Very appealing indeed, Flick. Glad the nx sensor (or, more hopefully the Microdrive) allowed at least one perfect exposure! ;-) Hope you get that sorted painlessly and soon. This image has something of the 'Athena' look about it IMO, and would certainly grace the insides of any coffee table 'glossy'. Soooooper! ;-)

Thanks John. the sculpture really is unusual. Luckily the graffiti isn't too noticable as the crusader himself is in a darker part of the building.
Graffiti seems to span the centuries. Quite near Dorchester are some beech trees whose girth as they've grown has stretched the Victorian graffiti on their trunks to enormous proportions.

Hi Flick, this one, really forces me to reflect for some reason. I love the light and the concept of defacement on such a fine work is really someting. thanks John

Hi Jono, how are you? Well I hope.
Thanks for the comments.

Looks like you had fun.
This is lovely - as Tim says 'creamy light' and the composition works just right
kind regards jono

Hi Tim, yep, we went out together today (how did you guess ;-)
Dorchester Abbey is wonderful. It was once a Celtic religious centre, then a pre Christian Saxon one, then a monastery, then Roman Catholic (I think) and now welcomes all spiritual persuasions. They have wonderful music there. Once we walked in and they were practising Mozart's Requiem - incredibly beautiful in that setting.
The atmosphere there is incredible. There is an area with a medieval wall painting, that was once the centre of the original church, and there's a Jesse window.
Flick.

You've been out shooting with Kate, haven't you?! This is my favourite of the two similar shots. Nice creamy, romantic, mystical light and nice DOF effects to focus on the more intriguing part of the subject. Tim
