North Stoke Church, Sussex

This is the porch floor of what might just be the most beautiful church I know. Inside, the walls are all buttery and distempered, with the damp pushing glistening crystals through the walls. It has no electric light so the four services they hold there each year are by candlelight. Aside from that it is isolated and always empty.

Thanks Silas! I was in Florence Feb last year on a language course - have been thinking of going back for another one this year, though it's ******* cold there at this time of year. I took very few pix while there since I spent most of my time in bars with people your age... Tim

I love the light in this. funny how many churches seem to have been posted. I'll be in florence next month - shame the competition ends the day i go, I'll get some great church shots there! ss

Lovely photo tim. The little church reminds me of St Oswald's chapel, a tiny place isolated in fields in the Cotswolds. Flick.
