:: Walking the Helix :: by Tim Ashley, equal Fifth Place

Vatican City

Vatican Museum, around the time of the death of John Paul II. This staircase is not the spiral it looks like: it's actually a double helix, and very beautiful - though you do have to wait a long time for your stooge to be the only person visible on it!

Thanks Marc and Dave! The blue tone is as it actually was - I ran an eyedropper over the flash of white on the shirt collar to establish that no inaccurate tint had crept in. The light filters through glass from above and there's some artificial light in there too, but the marble and carpet are greyish and blue tones. Tim

I like this Tim, must be a sight to see for real. Does it actually have the blue tone or did you do that in post? - Marc

One of my favs in either gallery so far. I like everything about it, and it's so "on theme". Great job, Tim. I can well understand that it required patience to get the composition just right. -- DF
