4th Place Falling Heavens by Flick Merauld

Thaxted, Essex, UK

I've always loved windmills and the open country and panoramic, expansive, wild skies that go with them. Looking up into the heavens there gives me a sense of freedom and boundlessness, the exhilaration of being at one with the elements.

Hi PF, thank you! I value your opinion as you have such an eye for composition and for the unusual. Are you going to put any more shots in this challenge?
Flick.

Hey Flick,
Wonderul shot. I love how you angled the camera and I have done this myself with a few church shots. Very very good.

I really like this Flick, I think the the strong diagonal lines of the wind vanes and the diagonal of the cloud edges give it such a feeling of strength (for me at least).

You certainly outdid my efforts when you came to Oxford. anyway, the proof of the pudding (spotted dick and custard or otherwise ;-) is in the beholding...so where are your results from the day ?????
Smackies,
Flick.

David, sad but true. I live three miles from this Windmill, and Flick visits once and outdoes my efforts. Unfair :-) - Quentin

What a great perspective Flick! Makes me dizzy:) - Albert

Wow, thanks! I've no idea what Messrs. Bargate and Slack did with it (or Monsieur Gervais for that matter) as they've been rather coy about sharing their results.

This is fantastic, and surely better than what Messrs. Slack and Bargate could come up with. I love the angle, and the framing of the clouds. Works wonderfully in b&w. -- DF

Yes Flick - this is excellent - and, as quentin he say - much better than the crap I took! jono

Thanks Quentin, really thanks you've made my day :-) I sent the colour version to jono for the web page he's doing of all our efforts. I'd be interested to see which you all think is the better of the two. I think this is the most dramatic.
Flick.

Flick, that's the best shot of the Windmill in Thaxted I have seen for some time, sooo much better than my pitiful efforts that day....really, excellent - Quentin
