Top of the Heap by Flick Merauld

My Bedroom

The contrast is between the size and patterning of the chickens eggs and the quails eggs, but also the light and shadow. Photographed in the loft, in natural light, with gold foil under the eggs.

other sizes: small medium original auto

Thanks Paul. regarding the feather, these were free range eggs, so you get the odd bit of feather and straw, not to mention other accretions, as an added bonus ;-)

Beautiful, especially the little peice of feather. It really gives it that natural feel. - Regards Paul

Really nice lighting - I guess you couldn't resist an egg photo, and thanks for the caption info as I thought the top egg was some kind of mushroom. - Blaine Byers

Hi John, thanks for the comments :-) the type of eggs is mentioned in the sub title section under the picture: the large ones are ordinary chickens eggs, but the little speckled ones are quails eggs, a great delicacy I'm told, though I've never tasted them as I'm allergic to eggs and don't eat them whole (just small quantities in cakes and pancakes).

Flick, Very cool, great lighting. I love the little feather contrasted against all the eggs. What kind of bird did these come from? John

Thanks David - on all counts ;-)

Excellent photo, Flick! Love the light/shadow play, and the patterns. It certainly *does* fit the theme very well.....oh wait, was the theme eggs or contrasts?? :-) Whatever, this image meets both themes very beautifully! -- DF
