This is an optically excellent lens with superb colour and contrast with good low-light performance. The lens is relatively large, expensive, and heavy (almost 1 Kg) compared to its consumer-grade counterparts. This lens is most impressive at full-frame where it maintains excellent and consistent edge-to-edge optical quality.
Five of these images are from the 28-70L which I "test drove" before selecting the 24-70L. Optical performance of these two lenses is similar - the 24-70L offers a little more range on the wide angle side of the zoom and also offers closer focusing than the 28-70L.
These are the same images that are presented in my main galleries but here they are sorted into separate galleries according to lens. This may assist those that are shopping for a particular lens and wish to view some sample images taken with the lens on a 1.6 crop factor (Canon D60), a 1.3 crop factor (Canon 1D), and full frame (Canon 1DsII). _7.83_
