BRIDGEPORT, CT - At approximately 11:00 p.m. on October 19, the Bridgeport Fire Department was dispatched to the corner of Madison Avenue and Center Street Extension for a reported structure fire in the city’s ‘Hollow’ section. Upon receiving multiple calls, dispatch sent a full assignment on the first dispatch. First in companies found a vacant 3 decker with heavy fire showing from the A-side on all three floors. The fire was initially attacked from the outside to knock the heavy fire down, followed by an aggressive interior attack as soon as was deemed safe by Battalion-1. This was the first working Edward Assignment (Engine-5 first due fire) since the city closed Engine-5 on October 14.
