BRIDGEPORT, CT - At approximately 7:20am on April 19, the Bridgeport Fire Department responded to 117 Denver Avenue on the city’s West Side for a basement fire. The fire quickly spread to all floors via heating duct work. The members quickly put the fire under control in the basement, and soon after mopped up all of the rest of the fire from the heating vents. This was to be the first of two fires the West Side companies would have to battle this day. The second fire came later that night and resulted in one civilian being rescued from a roof, while one unfortunately perished on the third floor of that structure.
