NEW HAVEN, CT - At approximately 5:00pm on February 23, the New Haven Fire Department was dispatched to the Fair Haven section for a structural fire. Once on scene, members found the former Cott Soda factory on Ferry and Chatam Streets, now occupied by Associated Packaging, pushing heavy smoke. An aggressive search for the seat of the fire proved laborious, and the fire raged on. A second alarm was struck, followed by a third, and all members were pulled out of the large factory building which encompasses a whole city block. Flames were seen pushing fifty feet in the air during the height of the blaze. The wooden part of the factory, built in the 1920's, was completely demolished by the fire.
