BRIDGEPORT, CT - At approximately 4:25 p.m. on July 1, the Bridgeport Fire Department responded to 304 Benham Avenue for a working structure fire. Engine 3 arrived on scene first reporting heavy smoke and fire showing from the roof of a 3-story wood frame occupied structure. Upon investigation, companies found the fire to be confined to the roof area. The fire had not spread into the cockloft area and seems to have started in the exhaust vent on the roof.
