FAIRFIELD, CT – On November 4, a ‘Back To Basics Day’ of training was held at the Fairfield Regional Fire School at 205 One Rod Highway in Fairfield, CT. Offered classes were comprised of Engine Company Operations (Advancing The Initial Attack Line), Ladder Operations, Vehicle and Rescue Tools: Hands-On-Extrication, and Weapons of Mass Destruction (Awareness Level Training for First Responders). Instructors from Bridgeport, Fairfield, FDNY, Hamden, New Canaan, and Westport taught members from several fire departments who enrolled for the full day of training. The day consisted of morning classroom work followed by hands-on training out on the grounds. Training evolutions consisted of stretching hand lines, forcible entry (using Red Barn Innovations’ Forcible Entry Simulators), V.E.S., vehicle extrication, and much more. Governor Jodi Rell and Congressman Christopher Shays also made an appearance at the regional fire school during the training to speak to the firefighters.
