BRIDGEPORT, CT - At approximately 3:00pm on November 13, the Bridgeport Fire Department was dispatched to 181 Middle Street for a reported fire in a vacant commercial building located in the downtown section of the city. Battalion-1 found a 4-story office building with smoke showing from the 3rd floor on arrival. Several interior offices were involved in the rear of the structure, and members chased fire throughout the ceiling on the 3rd floor of the ‘Jayson Building’. Because of the heavy interior fire, tricky layout of the large building, and elusive fire in the ceiling, Battalion-1 had to call 2 engines and 1 truck above a full assignment, making it a total of 6 engines, 3 trucks, 1 rescue, and 1 battalion.
