Westview Cemetery - Atlanta

These were all shot with my new 20D as well as my new 20-70L lens. It had a B+W CP on it as well. All were shot RAW and converted using BreezeBrowzer 2.11 Beta with 20D support. The were processed using settings of Saturation +2, Sharpness +1 and Contrast +1. Then they were run through PS CS for resize and frame and a tad of additional sharpening. A few shots had some level and highlights modified in PS CS. And yes I know several of the portrait shots are leaning. The large building in some shots and the long hall way is the mausoleum, it was huge!

Wow, this was great, the 1st photo of your set in one that I have the original watercolor that was done by Los Angeles Art Glass. I had always wondered if the original stained glass was still there. I am in the process of selling these water color prototypes. So now you got me going, I am going to go through various sites and see if I can find the actual glass of some of the other water colors. Thanks for the great pictures.

Our family plot is located here inWestview in Section 29, The Family of A. R. Lord. All the spaces are filled except for ones for my cousin , my husband and myself. Back when the plot was first bought in 1953 my grandfather was the only one there on that long empty hill...now almost every spot is filled.
My parents used go there every Suday to visit the grave and then we would always make a stop to visit the Candler Safari Room. The Candlers ...of Coca Cola money... were also big African hunting enthusiasts and they had many of their game heads mounted on the walls of a huge building located near the entrance at Westview. I mean there were hundreds of heads there and the building was large and expensive. The highlight of the exhibit was a huge elephant including all his legs. It terrified me. I wish I knew where the Candler family moved that exhibit. Does anyone know? Someone once told me that it was relocated to storage in the basement of the Coca Cola Building downtown (Atlanta).

this is the place my uncle dexter was buried at on Jan.9,07 he was killed in Iraq on christmas day of 06.

Thank you so much for the wonderful photos of Westview. I grew up as a child roaming in the halls of the Abbey when we would visit my grandparents burial site.
It was a beautiful place 50 years ago and I fortunetly got to visit a few years ago. It was just as I remembered it. It is nice to be able to see the sites there by the internet.

After spending many, many holidays leaving flowers for family I learned Westview is a joy to visit and take photos. It's neat to see pictures I have from another angle or point of view. Keep up the good work.

Sorry lens is 24-70L, but it was new and a bad copy, I have since exhanged it for another copy which appears to be much sharper through the entire zoom range. I plan on visiting Oakland and Westview several times to get more shots.

I've been shooting Westview and Oakland now for five years, using everything from medium format cameras to digital SLRs. I never fail to find something new with each shoot. Check out my galleries on the same cemeteries.

What lens did you say you are using? There is no 20-40L?!
