Laurel Creek Falls

First, this falls is very rain dependent so if it has not rained in a while there will proabbly be little or no water, as is evident form my pictures. That said it is still a beautiful area and i intend to go back after some rain. This falls is on private property, but the land owners have been very gracious to allow the public to view this beauty of nature so if you go respect the land!

Take I40 to Hwy 27 South then to Hwy 68 North and continue about 5 miles into Grandview. Just past the Piney Falls Nataural Area sign make a right onto Possum Trot Road or if coming from Piney Falls when you get back to the main road (Hwy 68) take it North (make a left) and go to the next road on the right on Possum Trot Road. Drive 4.4 miles and turn right (no road sign, don't worry there are no other roads for a bit) Drive another 1/2 mile and make a left onto a narrow 1 lane road. This should be Big Neck Road (don't confuse this with another Big Neck Rd you passed earlier). Drive 1.4 miles down this narrow road and you will pass a large farm house set pback ont he left. This is where the land owner for the falls lives. Just past the hous the road will turn to graval and pass through a fenced in area. There is an area to pull over here, do so, but don't block the road or the gate. There is a No Trespassing sign on the gate, but if the gate is open you may enter. If the gate is closed it usually means they are grazing cattle and you can't go in. Walk through this gate along the covered fence line away from the road a short distance through another older barrbed wire gate. The path is like an old dirt road; at the fork stay to the right and continue your decent. The total walk is about 20 minutes so a little more than 1/4. It is an easy walk.you'll pass a little water drop off up to your right, and then a short distance later you will come to the hug open ampitheater area. If you look close at my pictures you will see a trickle of water, but searcht he web and you will see the full potential of this beautify falls.
