Hezekiah Alexander House

On a recent visit:
The historic house of Hezekiah Alexander (who signed the Declaration of Independence,
co-founded local Queens College in 1771,
and co-framed the first North Carolina State Constitution and Bill of Rights),
the Charlotte Museum of History emphasizes three themes:
freedom, the influence of our environment and the changing face of Charlotte.

The museum Collection:
Built in 1774, it's the oldest original structure in Charlotte and Mecklenburg County.
On the homesite tour, guides in authentic Colonial dress will show you around.
After checking out the house, see the museum's collection of art, as well as everyday objects from the region and
around the world that span from pre-Colonial times to the 20th century.
Of particular note is a year-long exhibit about Billy Graham and the area's religious history.
