The usually large London Air Fest 2005 was abruptly reduced to very small Salute to the Veteran event due to unforeseen circumstances, along with the ground display, flying demonstrations were provided by the CF-18, USN Super Hornet, Challenger Jet, and the Snowbirds.
While the flying display was much reduced, the quality of the flying was still second to none, the USN Super Hornet pilot indicated while he's cleared to go 0.98 Mach in his high speed pass in the U.S., Transport Canada only allows him 0.9 Mach....., else the vapes would be even more impressive.
The highlight of the airshow must be when a very, very, very surprised Brenda and Rick Reeves (long time volunteer and SB point of contacts at the London show) received their Honorary Snowbirds distinction during the Snowbirds performance, you can even see the shock and disbelief under their sunglasses! Congratulations, Brenda and Rick for this well deserved honour.
