Ken

My name is Dave O'Malley and I am volunteer Manager of Communications at Vintage Wings of Canada. We are here in the Ottawa area and maintain and fly 20 different vintage aircraft including a number of Second World war fighter aircraft. We do this to Commemorate our veterans, Educate Canadians about their sacrifices and achievements and to Inspire future generations. Our website (www.vintagewings.ca) will explain a lot of what we do. I know you know a lot about us.

We have many seriously accomplished former military pilots who fly these rare and very expensive aircraft, including 4 former leaders of the Snowbirds. One of these leads, Rob "Scratch" Mitchell (who flies our F-86 Sabre) was leader of the Snowbirds during the 2007 Grey Cup game and he was the guy who "zapped" the bottom of the Grey Cup with a Snowbirds sticker (red and white) and this could be seen by all of Canada (I remember laughing out loud when I saw it). Zapping is a time honoured practice where by squadrons will try to outdo each other putting their stickers on high profile places. After air shows many visiting American or British aircraft will often go home with a few stickers stuck on hard to reach places. You run into these "zaps" in pubs all through Europe and the US. BUT the best Zap ever was Rob's on the bottom of the Grey Cup - they even left it on for a few months. Since the Snowbirds are based in Saskatchewan, the province went nuts with joy about the zap. Sort of like the storu of the guy who put the loonie at centre ice in the Olympics.

We want to do a story about this event in time for the upcoming Grey Cup for our website (take a look at what these stories look like by going to our home page) and I found your photo on Pbase that shows the Saskatchgewan rough riders sign in the cockpit of the tutor. Would you allow us to use this and other photos in our story? Being a not-for-profit charity we can only pay you in gratitude and a proper photo credit or link to your page of you wish.

Let em know if you will let us use it.

Thanks in advance
Dave
