Burn

In what distant deeps or skies
Burnt the fire of thine eyes?
On what wings dare he aspire?
What the hand dare seize the fire?
(from) The Tyger
William Blake

There is some weird stuff lurking in the background of the pic. Not sure if can be seen in the upload.

Wow Karen, this picture rocks

Very interesting and unusual shapes, that's for sure. I thought so from the thumbnail. Neat shot; wish I had one going right now!
Blair Hawco08-Nov-2004 03:12
Karen, I missed this one yesterday - but wow, this is a great capture. The colours and tones and so vibrant.
Guest 08-Nov-2004 02:37
Wow - very nice! Kind of a creepy picture, but cool!
Guest 07-Nov-2004 21:32
Great colors and motion.
Guest 07-Nov-2004 15:16
Abstract and dramatic!!
Guest 07-Nov-2004 12:50
Spooky and interesting shot. How the heck did you manage to balance the exposure of the shadows like that? Great job.
Karen Stuebing07-Nov-2004 12:12
This is beautiful. I love the colors and it almost looks like lava.

Comforting.
Pepe Zyman07-Nov-2004 07:14
Cool effect!

William Blake was an incredible poet. His words are so appropriate for this image. And yes, there are several things hidden in the fire. *shiver*
Guest 07-Nov-2004 06:11
Cool, I mean Hot shot.
Guest 07-Nov-2004 05:18
It's like a flaming Rorschach! Veru cool (hot?!) I see all kinds of things here too, and some of them are downright scary!

Hmmm....a wonder what a trained therapist (especially one who know her English literature) would say about that!? ;)
Guest 07-Nov-2004 04:19
from the thumb I thought it was some sort of fire beast, Great capture
snootydog07-Nov-2004 04:10
Maybe that's fearful symmetry lurking in the background? This is how I started off my padding... this is almost exactly the photo. Mine had lurkers to.
Robin Reid07-Nov-2004 03:03
An image that is easy to warm to! Nice.
Elaine (etfitz)07-Nov-2004 02:09
Wonderful image! Looks a little like the Lion King to me. Very creative!
Guest 07-Nov-2004 01:58
Took me a moment, but I see the face too. I don't think you could have done this exactly again if you wanted to. Very well done Karen, I'm flabergasted.
Cheryl Hawkins07-Nov-2004 01:50
I had a hard time seeing the face at first, but when I clicked on the comment button, and the thumbnail came up, I can see it quite clearly. Lovely tones in the fire. It's been a while since I sat around looking at a fire.
Karen Leaf07-Nov-2004 01:16
Yep, Jude, that's what I see, and what really spooked me was the fire's 'beak' and the hot spots around the mouth, with the blue fire coming out of his black eye socket. No more Stephen King for me :)
Larry Ahern07-Nov-2004 01:06
Looks warm ... nice shot!
jude07-Nov-2004 00:55
Well maybe i'm seeing things but I see several forms.. there's a face in the fire.. the blue round part up top being one of the eyes.. it's facing toward the right. And then if you look close you can see a person's body..in the background. Is that what you saw?

I'm thcared...
Karen Leaf07-Nov-2004 00:47
There were wierd shapes in the b/g that must have been lost. Ashes and burnt logs that had eerie outlines. Sorry.
Breland07-Nov-2004 00:46
I like the concept of a hidden picture in the flame. I can see something but can’t make it out.
Herb 07-Nov-2004 00:23
Nice shot Karen, whatever lurks in the background I can't find it.
Dennis Croteau07-Nov-2004 00:05
That is sweet! Looks like a cigarette in the flames, but thats just my
dilusions I think..lol Excellent capture....(envious)
Si Kirk07-Nov-2004 00:00
Nice photo, cant beat a log fire!
Gayle P. Clement06-Nov-2004 23:59
Nice catch, Karen. Weird stuff?
