Iwo Jima Memorial (detail)

Detail from the Marine Memorial at Arlington. One of my favorite of the war monuments. No crop, but some levels and curves. Tough shooting, sun very bright and seemed to come from everywhere.
Morg and I drove into the city, hit this moument then the Holocoust Museum (I wasn't the only one wiping my eyes and blowing my nose this time) then walked to the Washington Monument, which had closed 1/2 hour earlier. Walked to the WWII Memorial which opened last spring-lovely and serene setting, filled with people this hot afternoon. Decided to quit then, since her legs had 'jimmied out' 2 hours earlier. (mine were going strong, as long as I kept moving, heh)

I like the composition and the detail shown by concentrating on a small piece of the monument. Very nice work.

This is a brilliant compostion. Since you didn't crop it, your camera placement was perfect. Great shot, Karen, and sounds like your having a busy vacation!
