I spent a few days in Saint Malo, Brittany - France, in September 2004. I was there for work, but the conference center was just in front of the beach and I was really fascinated by the amazing tide (up to several meters difference) and the multiple faces of the beach.
That part of town has really two completely different feeling, depending on the time of the day. In the morning the water feels like it's kept at bay by the waterfront walls, making the entire city really feel like the old walled IntraMuros. Then in the early afternoon the water recedes, and the beach becomes a major attraction, both for turist and locals, teeming with people and activity.
Hi claudio
Have really enjoyed this St Malo gallery - as much as your also excellent Prague gallery.
As for the mysterious burrows on the beach... I think they are made by a type of sandworm. Not edible themselves, but very useful as bait for fishing. :)
Thanks for the comment. Glad you like the gallery. I have your same desire with respect to the rest of the town, since I was very busy with work and I did not have time to experience (or photographs) many other parts of the town. Your gallery nicely complements my impressions and I reallly like your interior shots with that amazing lighting.
I love your impressions at low tide, Claudio. I only wish I could have worked on some of that myself when I was there a few weeks before you, but our cruise ship had only stopped there for a day, and I spent the morning at Mont St. Michel, and thus only had a few hours to explore St. Malo. It was one of my favorite ports in Europe. Your images brought back a lot memories. I also loved St. Vincent's Cathedral and its rose window. See my impressions at
