White Island - July 12, 2009

This year's trip to the Tern Restoration Project on White and Seavey Islands in the Isles of Shoals was scheduled for two weeks earlier, when I couldn't make it. Fortunately for me, the boat broke down and the trip was rescheduled for today, when I could make it. And once again, the trip turned out to be fantastic!

All images are of Common Terns unless otherwise indicated. There are a few Roseate Terns (I have 1 image) and Arctic Terns, of which I have none.

This is a large gallery...please forgive me; I find these birds absolutely captivating.

No Caspian Terns...just Common Terns and one image of a Roseate Tern.There are also a couple of Arctic Terns at the colony. Caspians are uncommon in New England, whereas there are more common in the Pacific Northwest where you live Justin.

Caspian Terns, Kevin? These shots are brilliant. 0050 is my favourite so far.
