Plasticky zoom, and cheaper (US$41) due damaged filter ring, though
it is not too common lens, optically the lens seems no problem so far.
From 70mm to 105mm there is macro mode available its MFD is 0.85m,
normally the lens' MFD is 1.2m which is a bit too far, but seems sharp,
maybe because of an aspherical element used the first time for Canon.
(the first time for consumer grade lens)
It was a molded glass aspherical element according to Canon museum.
