Central High School was founded in 1854, and was located in a large home on Franklin. Through the years, various additions were made, with this structure being built in 1885. It was located on the site of the present day State Office Building on Niagara Square. Central High School closed in 1914, when the new Hutchinson High School opened on Elmwood at Johnson Park.
