2006 - Almost Cut Her Hair

Treasure Island, Florida

Jennifer asked one day, "What would you think if I cut my hair short?" "You would look like an old lady," I replied. She said, "But I am an old lady!" "Chronologically we're getting there, but attitude wise, we're younger than that now."

It brought back memories of an occasion when we went to see Mary Travers of Peter, Paul and Mary. She did a show in a very small venue in our area, accompanied only by a piano player. After the show, she came down into the audience and talked with fans. I told her how as a twelve year old boy, I had a crush on her, and how I realized that she alone changed the look of American women, with her long straight hair. She looked at Jennifer and said, "And I see you went out and found your own Mary." I had never thought of it that way, but she was right. Mary still had long straight hair; still looked great, crowding seventy.

Jennifer and I have come to the understanding that ageing is also an attitude, and that you can never, ever, give in.

Karl; If I could put my feelings about my wife, of almost 34 years, into words one tenth as eliquently as you seem to be able to do without any effort I would be a happy man and she a very surprised woman. Not that I don't have good memories, because I do, I just wish I'd have had the forsight to document our life in pictures and heartfelt words as you have done for your precious Jennifer. You say that she was far wiser than her 19 years as you started on your journey together but don't sell youself short. You have given Jennifer, and yourself, a wonderful and full life together and have shared that life and love with the world. I hope you both realize that you have each given the other the best gift imaginable. You have given each other, yourselves. Unquestioningly and whole heartedly. I can't think of anything better to ask for. I've been blessed with my wife and partner of nearly 34 years, and I truely wish that we reach your's and Jennifer's level of love and understanding. I am envious and will certainly attempt to reach your level. You are both extremely fortunate and I do thank you for sharing with us. Please keep us updated on your wonderful journey of life and love. LRMc

I'm the type of person that reads the first page of a novel, then skips to the last. I was so afraid this was going to go a bad way, like cancer or some other horrible thing, cutting short a beautiful life together. I'm so happy there will be a 37th...40th...50th 'Years With Jennifer'. What a beautiful gallery!!!!

Still as beautiful as ever. Perhaps more so from the steady diet of love and appreciation. Every woman should be THIS LUCKY.
Congratulations to both of you.

Karl, I love that you and Jennifer both value your relationship and don't ever take it for granted. You both move with the times, age is just a number. You should make a movie from your memoirs, it would be a smash hit! You have been in my favourites since I found your site, I love this gallery and I love watching it progress. You both have a VERY special kind of love, I know you both appreciate it and that makes it so much nicer.. Here's to seeing you both very old and very grey!! :) I expect to see the pictures! (chink chink!) x
