I lived on Connecticut st a couple of blocks from here. I frequented many of the bars on this site in the late 70s through the 80s.

When the image appeared on my screen it took my breath away for a second. We lived on 14th a few doors down from Connecticut. It was the '60's and the neighborhood a wonderful assortment of people. I would go through the back door of the GK and order our pizza. To this day that pizza is the standard by which I judge all pizzas and I live right in the center of Italy now! God bless Marie who made the pizzas and all those West Siders who remember those days.

I lived down the street from many of the bars in this gallery. I first moved to the west side on Connecticut St. I remember this place. So cool.

The Golden Key Tavern was founded by my grandfather, James Cirasi and taken over by his son, Edward (Eddy). It is as far as I know the oldest business establishment on Connecticut Street. I lived upstairs from 1945 until 1950. I now live in Japan. When the kitchen was in operation my uncle made pizza, spaghetti, ravioli and meatball and Italian sausage sandwiches. Louis Conti

This place is full of history, a long standing West Side landmark. It is a great place for happy hour or late night drinking. Perhaps they'll re-open the kitchen that unfortunately sits vacant. Every last Saturday of the month You'll find local legends the Painkillers rocking out the house, along with three or four other guest bands on the bill. It's a priceless night of memorable entertainment. Stop in to shoot pool, drink beer, meet new people and You'll surely want to return. The Golden Key Tavern, it's a living landmark.

This was the place my dad brought me for pizza when I was about 10. He had a shot and a beer with a well done small pizza. He thought it was the best pizza I thought it tasted like Chef Boyardee Pizza in a box
