One of the best music venues in the city. Eclectic offerings, great staff, and original, unique ambience. One of a kind; the kind you miss when it's gone. See it now.

Hi Bob:
I was the "Chief Usher" at the Century pretty much through all of my high school years and then some.('55 till mid '57) It was a big deal to go there Sunday for our lunch from the Centuty. I also liked to patronize the place in the evenings.(Even long after I was attending Buff State) I remember Sammy, your dad, very well. Also; A very likeable bartender named Frankie. On Sundays for lunch, the big deal for me was a cold draft and A hot ham sandwich! The best I have ever had, even till now! I am 78. I do remember Brother Andersons' Hotel on the corner of W. Mohawk. I was never in there (Brother Andersons') since it had a reputation as a "sleeze bag joint!. Me and my buddies "hung around" downtown and I would have to say that "Brother Andersons'" was the only gin mill that we did not savor at least once. Even after getting married in "63 I still would stop in to the "Theatre Hotel" for A cold one if I was Downtown on an errand. Never went back to the place after it started catering to the teenie boppers. As a little side lite, I recall stopping in for "quickie" while on the way to pick up my mom for dinner on A sunday at our home. Your dad was tending bar and I asked him how Franlkie was doing since I hadn't seen him in quite some time. Your farther said married. (or so I misheard) I responded GREAT! Glad to here! Your dad looked at me and said BURIED! BURIED! he died last wednsday! Talk about lifes'embarasing moments!

P. S.
The Theatre Hotel certainly brings back many, many pleasant memories. By the way I do remember the crowd of people that would be in there on Saturday nights, most of them workers from Remington Rand, which was right next door on Ellicott St.

Mohawk Place officially closed 1/12/13. I bartended the last two nights after first working there in 1999. A bittersweet and sad moment but probably one that was way overdue. The place was literally crumbling.

I was a little girl when my parents split & my father moved in upstairs for a while. I remember Franki, she was very sweet to us.
