I feel compassion for all people involved. The victims of violence, the prisoners and the families of both parties.
It is sad that people are filled with such hate. Sad that they cannot be grateful for the circumstances that occurred in their own lives that kept them away from the despairation and pain that others faced. No one's life is easy, but some circumstances that chilren face would change everyone. Be thankful that your tests in life were not as difficult as some others. The truth is desparate circumstances change people! They do what they need to do in order to survive. Instead of criticizing think how we can change the world by allowing ourselves to care.

No no no !!! Dont say they are all there suffering and thous people destroy lives! A lot
Of thous people sre there for parole violations bc they had a cell phone so they can
Have a job . Or a ex girl friend said they hit her bc he left her bc she was out screwing
Some other guy why he was in there . Dont stigmatize people . A lot of pepople are innocent bc they take a plea
Bargain where a lot of people could do helluva more time if went to trial

You do the crime, pay the time. I do NOT feel sorrow for any of those who have to serve time at Attica. They have destroyed lives.. think about that people before you feel bad and wah wah about your loved ones.

I was there it was the worst time of my life! after Attica I have never been back to jail.I been in almost all the max prisons in NY state. They wasted time all they had to do was send me here first and I would have never come back! Thank God for Attica cuz I'm a changed man now! I'll never do another crime NEVER!!! And I was hardcore but the stress there isn't worth it!

We all have those demons in our head. Some allow those demons to play out in real life. That is when we are held accountable. The mind is so complex, It certainly can snap at any time. Attica is that dark place we never want to visit in our dreams. However, Anyone can adapt in any given situation. However, some guards can be just as sick as the convicts. I truly have faith that God will sort it all out in the end. I pray for my husband for Attica is his forever home.

BIGBILL I hope you never have to worry about a loved one in prison. Yes there are alot of people who are there and deserve it for the horrible thigns they have done. but I have a nephew there whom early in life made a few stupid mistakes. And now he is surrounded by murders & rapist whom have nothing to lose casue they are serving life. He was put there to set an example ...I can only hope that he is a better person when he finally comes home. But to have to live in a place like this for 8 years surrounded by these types of people I cant imagine the way it will affect him. Not everyone is evil in there there are some whom made stupid mistakes when they where younger

DONT FEEL BAD FOR ANYONE THAT IS IN THAT PRISON...OBVIOUSLY IF THEY ARE THERE, THEY DID SOMETHING WORTHY OF BEING PUT THERE...THE JAIL ACTUALLY LOOKS PRETTY COOL AND INTERESTING, NOT REALLY INTIMIDATING TO ME...IT IS DEFINATLEY A NICE JAIL....MY THOUGHTS GO OUT TO THE FAMILIES AND PEOPLE THAT THE SOB'S THAT ARE IN THIS JAIL HURT.

My daughters father is here and this is by far too nice for him. He sexually assaulted her older sister at age 8 and older brother at age 10. Fortunately for him this will be his resting place. I made sure of that. I know that some of you feel bad for the people that are in here, but their consequences were given due to their actions. In my case, he's lucky he got put here because I was going to give him my own version of the death penalty. ~~Not feeling bad at all.

My Dad was sent here after 40 years of abusing little girls, including myself. It looks like he got what he deserved. They say he wont last a year here. We will see.

This looks like a haunted place. I bet several inmates here have lost their soul and identity. Prison is not a place just anyone can handle especially if there is some type of abuse and mistreatment going on and I know this is happening here.

I grew up about a mile from there. Knew a lot of guards, what a place. Went there after hitch in Navy to apply. Didnt even fill out app. Had enough just inside 1st gate!!

I did some time in this joint from 1995 to 96 before I was transferred to a MED.facility. this place is no joke, and it's not a place anybody would want to be...
Jenna 05-Apr-2008 18:37
This facility is absolutely amazing! I have taken a 45 minutes drive just to see the outside. I want to get into corrections from CJ and hope to work here one day!
Brent 05-Apr-2008 08:12
Great architecture!! It kind of reminds me of a castle!!
melissa 14-Nov-2007 20:14
I have been in some prisons since I am going for a degree in corrections but this is by far the biggest.
Brandon 27-Oct-2007 17:46
That is a crazy shot, this place looks intense and that it just takes your identity and everything that you have left was lost. This picture reminds me a lot of the book "the shinning" and just how the light never hits this place right. Its amazing, nice picture.
brandy 20-Oct-2007 02:37
This place looks like you could loose yourself to it,someone that i love is in this place and i worry for his mind everyday and night.
Guest 28-May-2007 23:33
