Fisherman's Wharf

I remember the Wharf from the late 60's, when Chippewa was the red-light district of Buffalo. I don't know when it closed, or even when someone decided "let's see how ugly we can make it" by painting it yellow and black. Even at its' ugliest, it had more presence and character than its' replacement.

My first encounter in the wharf...A man in a fez sitting in the corner nursing a bottle of Balentine XXX.

I had the oppurtunity to revisit this area for my cousin Jay Ferrari.s 60th birthday celebration. I was there in the early 1950's before I went to Korea and then again in 2002. It now is a sports type bar. Good food with many different beers. The area had changed so much I didn't recognize it.The past rises again. THANKS FOR THE MEMORIES
