City Hall From Lafayette Square

Funny how sometimes you don't miss something until it's gone, check out the building with the "Piano's" sign just after the Liberty Bank Building. It's gone now, and remains a vacant lot.

When I attended Filmore middle school in the late 1960's one of my fellow students kept off the city hall observation deck ,and impaled himself on the flag pole in front of the building. weird sad but true.

The building with the PIANOS sign was Denton, Cottier and Daniel's- a huge music store selling sheet music, instruments and records. Just before it closed I went in and bought an Art Deco statue that was a display piece that was there for years for five bucks. A real bargain! Thank you for these marvelous photos. Tearjerkers all.

McKinley Monument in the foregrown reminds me of the day my dearest and I went to the health bureau for our license and blood test in 1956 (and they said it wouldn't last but we are still married)
