57 Chevrolet 283-185

1957 was the first year of the 283 engine, and it became Chevrolet's "meat and potatoes" workhorse engine over the eleven years of its production, which ended after the 1967 model year. When introduced, the base two barrel was rated at 185 HP, then in 1960 was rated at 170 HP until it settled in at 195 HP in 1963.
