This 318 is of Mopar's LA series of engines, consisting of the 273, 318, and 340 engines. The 273 was introduced in 1964 and lasted through 1969. The 318 was produced from 1967, and continued through 1990. The 340 came out in 1968, and lasted through the 1973 model year, when it was superceded by the 360.
This 318 was the base V8 in the Satellite, Belvedere, Fury, Charger, Coronet, and Polara from it's 1967 introduction through the 1970 end of the Golden Age, and was also expanded to the Barracuda, Dart, and Challenger lines.
The 318 was offered in a two-barrel configuration for most of its life, and from its 1967 introduction through 1970, was rated at 230 HP.
