The Comet: Then and Now

The Comet was introduced in 1948 at Crystal Beach. For the next 41 years, it was the premier attraction at Crystal Beach. When Crystal Beach closed in 1989, the Comet was bought at auction by The Great Escape Park at Lake George, NY; was disassembled, moved, and reassembled there, and began running again in the 1994 season.

As it was while at Crystal Beach, it continues at The Great Escape, one of the premier roller coasters in the world.

The black and white photos are of the Comet in it's closing days at Crystal Beach in 1989; the color photos are of the Comet in the summer of 2008 at The Great Escape Park.
