Ulva Island, New Zealand-1605
The Saddleback, is one of the most recognizable bird species in New Zealand due to its bold plumage markings, loud vocalisations and distinctive orange-red wattles. This endemic species almost became extinct and in 1964 it was the first New Zealand bird species to be relocated to predator free Islands. South Island saddlebacks are no longer at a high risk of extinction but it still took me sometime to get this one into a position to at least get one photo.
